In a big update that has left lakhs of aspirants surprised, the SSC CGL 2025 Exams have been postponed. The exams were earlier scheduled to begin on August 13, 2025, but the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) made a late-night announcement on August 8, confirming the delay due to multiple technical glitches during the recently held Selection Post Phase XIII Exams.
What Caused the Delay in SSC CGL 2025 Exams?
According to the official SSC notification, the Supreme Court had directed the Commission to introduce reforms in how computer-based exams are conducted.
Acting on this, the SSC implemented a new exam model starting with the Selection Posts/Phase XIII Exams 2025, held between July 24 and August 1 across 194 centers nationwide.
Over 5.5 lakh candidates took these exams out of 11.5 lakh applicants. These included exams at the Matric, Higher Secondary, and Graduate levels.
SSC also rolled out Aadhaar authentication for candidates and exam staff to curb impersonation and cheating — a feature now expected to be part of the SSC CGL 2025 Exams as well.

Technical Glitches Hit Phase XIII Exams
Despite the new setup, several candidates reported technical issues during their tests. SSC acknowledged the disruptions, citing “technical and operational reasons.” As a result, affected students were rescheduled for later shifts till August 1.
On August 2, SSC even held three extra shifts to accommodate more such candidates. Around 8,000 candidates appeared on that day alone.
55,000 Candidates to Retake Their Test on August 29
After reviewing the exam logs, SSC found data gaps for about 55,000 candidates. To ensure fairness, SSC announced that these candidates will be given another chance to appear for the test on August 29, 2025.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Affected candidates will be notified via email and SMS
- Exam centers will be assigned from the three preferred cities they chose earlier
- Admit cards can be downloaded from August 26, 2025
- The previous attempt won’t be counted, and only the new test will be considered valid
This decision highlights SSC’s commitment to conducting the SSC CGL 2025 Exams in a fair and transparent manner.
Challenge Process Post Re-Exam
SSC has also confirmed that any objections to questions in the Selection Post/Phase XIII exams will be accepted only after the re-exam on August 29.
This ensures all candidates have a fair shot before any evaluation concerns are addressed.
New Dates for SSC CGL 2025 Exams Coming Soon
Due to the ongoing review of the new system, SSC has now decided to postpone the SSC CGL 2025 Exams to the first week of September 2025.
A revised schedule for CGL and all upcoming SSC exams will soon be published on the official website.
OTR Edit Window Reopens
To prepare for the upcoming SSC CGL 2025 Exams, candidates will be allowed to edit their One Time Registration (OTR) details between August 14 and August 31, 2025. This is a final chance to make any necessary corrections.
