The MMA world is calling time on veteran Edson Barboza’s career after his defeat at UFC 319. The 39-year-old Brazilian, once known as one of the most dangerous strikers in the UFC, looked far from his best in his 37th professional fight.
UFC 319 Early Drama
The night began with a surprise as Joseph Morales claimed victory in The Ultimate Fighter 33 flyweight final.
Soon after, former champion Daniel Cormier blasted the judges for their controversial scoring in Karine Silva vs. Dione Barbosa.
Fans expected fireworks when Edson Barboza entered the octagon, but things didn’t go his way.

Barboza Falls to Drakkar Klose
Barboza, who has faced legends like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, and Justin Gaethje in his UFC career, returned to lightweight after a disappointing run at featherweight.
But against Drakkar Klose on Saturday night, the veteran looked a shadow of his former self. He struggled to find rhythm and lost via unanimous decision.
Fans Beg Barboza to Retire
Social media quickly exploded with reactions, with many fans urging Barboza to finally hang up his gloves.
- “Barboza is 100% washed.”
- “Bro just retire pls.”
- “Please retire, you’re getting hurt too much.”
Some even admitted it was painful to keep watching him fight.
Barboza’s record now stands at 23 wins and 14 losses, but fans fear the end of the road is here.
