NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – CSUN Women’s Soccer suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against California Baptist on Sunday evening at Matador Soccer Field, as an early goal from Kaylee Hauck proved decisive.
Match Summary CSUN vs California Baptist
The decisive moment came in the 15th minute when Ava Lopez won possession in midfield and delivered a perfectly weighted through ball. CSUN goalkeeper Riley Liebsack rushed off her line, but Hauck broke clear and calmly tapped into the empty net to hand the Lancers a 1-0 lead.
Despite dominating possession for stretches and creating several chances, CSUN were unable to find an equalizer. Sophomore forward Jordyn Canister led the Matadors with three shots, while Liebsack kept her side in the contest with five saves, including a diving stop late in the second half.
California Baptist goalkeeper Rebecca Winton also stood tall, recording three saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Chances at Both Ends
The Matadors pressed forward in search of a response before halftime, earning a corner that led to a near miss from Paige Califf. Canister had a promising effort saved in the 42nd minute, while Ariana Lopez-Angel tested Winton with a long-range attempt after the restart.
In the closing stages, CSUN threw numbers forward but could not break down a disciplined CBU defense. The Lancers managed the final minutes effectively, drawing fouls and slowing the tempo to secure victory on the road.
