West Sacramento, Calif. – The Oakland Athletics finally had something to cheer about Friday night. After dropping eight straight games, the A’s bats exploded against the Los Angeles Angels in a 10-3 victory at Sutter Health Park.

The stars of the night? Colby Thomas, Shea Langeliers, and Nick Kurtz, each of whom went deep to fuel the offensive outburst. Rookie pitcher Jack Perkins also stepped up on the mound, striking out seven over five strong innings.


Breaking the Streak in Athletics vs Angels

Oakland came into the game desperate to turn things around. The Angels had already beaten them seven times this season, and frustration was piling up. But from the start, the A’s looked locked in.

Catcher Shea Langeliers set the tone early with a solo home run off Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi in the second inning. He wasn’t done, later adding an RBI single to finish with a two-RBI night.


Thomas and Kurtz Deliver Big Blows

With Thomas and Kurtz combining for six hits and six RBIs, the A’s offense finally looked dangerous again.


Perkins Holds His Nerve

On the mound, rookie right-hander Jack Perkins (2-2) made just his third career start but pitched with poise while Athletics vs Angels. He lasted five innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks.

The Angels briefly threatened in the fifth inning. After Bryce Teodosio worked a walk, Zach Neto belted a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 4-3. But Perkins shook it off, striking out hitters and avoiding further damage.

It was the second straight solid outing for Perkins, who earned his first win as a starter in his last appearance against the Orioles.


Angels Struggle at the Plate

Kikuchi (6-8) took the loss after giving up four runs on five hits in four innings. The Angels’ bullpen didn’t fare much better, surrendering six more runs in the later innings.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday. The Angels will send Tyler Anderson (2-7, 4.63 ERA) to the mound, while Oakland counters with Luis Morales (0-0, 1.93 ERA), who will be making a key start for the A’s.

After finally snapping their skid, the Athletics will look to build momentum and prove Friday’s offensive explosion wasn’t just a one-night show.
